Participatory Analysis of Changing Rainfall Patterns: A Tool
This paper provides a brief overview, including strengths and limitations, of an innovative use of a rain calendar as a tool for the participatory analysis of changing rainfall patterns.
Previously, seasonal calendars have been used with community to monitor climate change in remote regions.
This Rain Calender draws upon this means for community participation in monitoring of climate change and climate variability. The tool is designed to gather community perceptions of rainfall patterns, to determine the parameters for good, average, and bad years in terms of rainfall, and to provide a platform for discussing risk management strategies to adapt to changing rainfall patterns.
