Water Sharing Plans resume in southern New South Wales
Watering sharing plans resume today for the Murray, Murrumbidee and Lachlan Valleys. There is no opening general security allocation on the Murray or Lachlan, but there is 44 per cent on the Murrumbidgee.

The Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities and the National Water Commission have engaged CSIRO and Geoscience Australia to undertake an assessment of the water resources of the Great Artesian Basin, which underlies about one-fifth of the Australian continent.

Baffle Creek operations plan open for comment
A new water plan is set to put a cap on how much water is used in the Baffle Creek Basin, north of Bundaberg, in southern Queensland. In the plan's draft, basin landholders can catch water on their properties using existing dams but any new catchments larger than 20 megalitres will be counted as unallocated water and will need to be purchased.
Irrigators await decision on water buy-back
The Federal Government says a decision on how much irrigators will get for their water entitlements will be made within a fortnight. Up to $60 million is available for purchases, which will count towards any water cuts in the final basin plan.
