Kath Bowmer

Professor Kath Bowmer has qualifications in agricultural sciences and soil chemistry from the University of Nottingham (BSc (Hons) Ph D). She is a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (MRACI); Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD); and in 1995 received the prestigious Pol Eureka Prize for Environmental Science.
She is currently Professor of Water Policy at Charles Sturt University (part time); Research Fellow of CSU's Institute for Land Water and Society; a Director of State Water Corporation; Research Fellow, Griffith University Law School; and Honorary Research Fellow, CSIRO Land and Water. She is a consultant tor government agencies and industry (recently including DEWHA, NSW Natural Resources Commission, NSW Natural Resources Advisory Council, NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Ord Irrigation Cooperative, and Lachlan Catchment Management Authority).
Previously she was Deputy Chief and Business Director CSIRO Land and Water; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research ) Charles Sturt University; Assistant Chief CSIRO Division of Water Resources; leader of the River and Wetlands programme, CSIRO Division of Irrigation Research; chair of the Murrumbidgee River Management Committee , and Chair of the Australian Research Council Earth Sciences Panel .
Interests and expertise includes water planning, public participation, water governance, river operations, science communication, water quality and aquatic plant management.
