John Mackenzie
John Mackenzie is a research fellow in the Socio-Legal Research Centre at Griffith University with expertise in political sociology and the use of social science research methods for policy design, analysis and assessment.
He is currently working with the Northern Australia Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) on Indigenous participation in water planning, as part of the TRaCK research program.
He was previously a senior social scientist in the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Water, with responsibility for the co-ordination of social science and economic research, development and extension for improved NRM delivery under the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality. This included the design and delivery of training and capacity-building activities targeted at agency staff and regional NRM bodies.
John is also a member of the external reference panel for the Murray-Darling Basin Plan Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, a researcher for the Water and Society Program at the SmartWater Centre, and an associate researcher with the Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge Research Hub.
