Carla Mooney

carlaCarla Mooney started her professional life as a researcher in the NSW public service. She has continued to utilise these social research skills in the areas of environmental planning and natural resources management.

She has a particular interest in the management of water and undertaken a number of projects in this area for example: Review of Objection and Appeal provisions under the Water Act, 1912 (NSW) for the Department of Land and Water Conservation; Review of Land and Water Management Plans for the Nature Conservation Council of NSW; Review of the usefulness to NSW of water legislation from other jurisdictions for the Department of Land and Water Conservation. A PhD funded by Land and Water Australia facilitated the transition into water planning and the law.

She is interested in the intersection of science and social science and committed to facilitating the engagement of public policy makers and communities in water planning and natural resource management.
